About This Project
Chiya Nepal is a production-grade, full-stack web application built for a real tea house chain with multiple locations across Nepal.
The project serves two distinct audiences: Customers experience a polished, responsive public website where they can explore the café's story, browse the tea menu, view an interactive masonry gallery with lightbox modal, read dynamic testimonials, learn about the curated sound experience, and find location details with an embedded Google Map.
Staff & Administrators access a comprehensive admin dashboard for managing every aspect of café operations: products & categories, orders with real-time status pipeline (Pending → Processing → Ready → Delivered → Paid), gallery images with 8 categories, staff accounts with role assignments, customer messages with threaded conversations, Firebase push notifications for web and Android, expenses with status management, sales analytics with Recharts visualizations, FAQs with categories, social media links, table management across branches, and QR code generation for digital menus.
The platform is fully deployed on Vercel, uses PostgreSQL (Neon) for scalable data storage, Cloudinary for optimized image management with automatic format selection, Firebase Cloud Messaging for real-time alerts, and supports a mobile-first responsive design with accessibility considerations throughout.
Capacitor integration enables Android push notification support, and the PWA manifest makes it installable on devices..
Challenges
- 1Building a real-time order status system with a multi-stage pipeline (Pending → Processing → Ready → Delivered → Paid) with per-item status updates
- 2Implementing role-based access control (Owner / Admin / Staff) with granular permissions across 20+ admin modules, secured at both middleware and component levels
- 3Integrating Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications across web and Android (Capacitor) with targetable audience delivery and device registration management
- 4Managing multi-branch operations with individual branch-level status tracking, data isolation, and branch-aware database queries
- 5Handling Cloudinary image management with categorized uploads across gallery (8 categories), products, and profile images with responsive transformations
- 6Building a comprehensive sales analytics dashboard with Recharts visualizations and expense tracking with status management
Solutions
- 1Designed a state-machine order pipeline with per-item status tracking, real-time dashboards, and visual status indicators across the admin interface
- 2Built a custom role-based middleware layer using NextAuth.js with Prisma adapter, securing all admin routes at both middleware and component levels with role-appropriate data access
- 3Implemented Firebase Admin SDK with device registration tokens, targetable notifications by audience (Owner/Admin/Staff), and Capacitor bridge for Android push support
